Oil Well Paraffin Removal
The accumulation of paraffin (wax crystals) restricting the flow of oil is an ongoing and costly problem in the oil industry.
Application of BioSolve® reduces the potential for paraffins to “plate out.” In effect, BioSolve works to keep the wax in the oil where it belongs.
BioSolve diluted with produced fluids will clean out plugged perforations and the adjoining formations. In addition, BioSolve will coat the tubing and rods and mix with the fluid in the hole to reduce further paraffin build-up.
Less Viable Alternatives
- Hot oiling can be expensive and unsafe and typically results in melted paraffin being pumped back into the formation where it sets up again after cooling.
- Using xylene or other solvents can be a safety and environmental hazard.
In most instances, BioSolve® treatments provide a viable, economic option to both of these procedures.
Test Results
- In a 40 well test program in Argentina, hot water dewaxing had been required monthly. BioSolve® extended the treatment interval to once every six to nine months. Newly installed tubing treated with BioSolve, had no need for dewaxing after one year in operation.
- In Oklahoma, in an eleven well test program, wells that had needed hot oiling every 30 – 60 days did not require treatment for over a year after treating once with BioSolve®.
